Road Trippin' - Day Three

Day Three provided substantial variety. Except that we overslept. That was very much the same as always.
As those of you who read our last post know, we began our day at Wall Drug. If you don't know the significance of Wall Drug, you are not alone. It seems to be famous for being famous. Kind of like Paris Hilton. It did, however, prove to be a lot of fun. I hope that we have captured it well in the pictures below.

Wall-come. Very clever

My new friends.

Bryan as Coachman.

Dear Diary, Jackpot!

Bryan has his type, I have mine.

Washington shares his secrets with Bryan.

We ride the Jackelope

We Lean on the "Wall"

We are Cherokee People. We have Cherokee Pride.

This is what we were going for with our camp fire! Bryan is making mental notes.

Hello?

After spending quite a bit of time at Wall Drug, we headed for Mount Rushmore. The drive was awesome. It was like nothing you will see in St. Louis. The black hills are beautiful, and the wind was stronger than anything that I have ever experienced. Seriously, it was indescribable. It was hard to get the car doors closed. There was also a lot of tumbleweed.

And then we arrived at Mount Rushmore, which was awesome. It was smaller than I remember, but still very impressive. Here are a few pictures.

As we stood at the bottom of Mount Rushmore, feet from a walking trail, Bryan spotted what appears to be a giant goat!

And here is Washington's honker.

After seeing Mount Rushmore, we traveled what seemed like a huundred miles to see Crazy Horse. I fully expected it to be finished, as it was well on it's way in 1994, but, not only was it incomplete, they wanted $20 before we could drive up to see the side that is being carved. Twenty dollars is more than we have spent on any one thing the whole trip! We chose to take a picture from the parking lot.

I imagine that this is what it would have looked like had we paid $20.00:

From there we began our drive to Denver. It was by far my favorite part of the trip so far. We listened to music and sang loudly (or at least I did), and enjoyed what was awesome scenery. There were hills and mountains and farms and deer and turkeys.

As we drove into Wymoing it started to snow! When we woke up in South Dakota it was almost 65, and a few hundred miles later it was 30 degrees. We stopped in Lusk, Wyoming to get gas and strecth our legs.

The rest of the drive was pretty smooth. There was a lot more snow, which you can kind of see in the picture below.

Here is the sky as we are entering Colorado! We also stopped at a Wendy's on the way in. That was exciting.

Our hotel in Denver was gorgeous and very comfortable.

That is it for now, I will post day four shortly, so check back soon!
